In the show Carrie Bradshaw's address is 245 E. 73rd Street in the Upper East Side (a fictional address). However, the exterior of her apartment is actually 66 Perry Street, New York, NY 10014, in the West Village. It has now become one of if not the most iconic Brownstone in New York.
I got a sadly unfabulous photograph of myself in front of this iconic apartment and it is a little annoying that you cannot go up on the steps as there is a chain across it ruining the illusion, but then again people do actually live there so I can imagine it would be incredibly frustrating having people sitting on your front step all day trying to channel their inner Carrie.
The house was sold in 2013 for $13.5 million and current estimates list it at $35 million, which while may be in part due to inflation, I think shows that the "Carrie Effect" is well and truly still alive.
Filming SATC in Perry Street:
The original exterior shots were actually filmed in 64 Perry Street but moved to 66 as the door and building looked much grander.
