My Week In Videos
Podcast of the week
Anna Faris is Unqualified
I, like everyone else, was devesated to find out one of the best couples ever - Anna Faris and Chris Pratt, were divorcing. However the silver lining was I found out Anna Faris had a podcast. Not only that, but it has been going on for over a year and already has an amazing catalogue of incredible guests including Eva Longoria, Stan Lee, RuPaul, Seth Rogen, Patti Stanger, Chelsea Handler etc etc.
Music of the week
This week I have been listening to Jay-Z's entire catalogue - starting with 4:44 which I think is such an important album (I loved the video for Moonlight which saw the beloved apartment of Monica Geller's apartment brought back to life and an episode of Friend's performed by a cast of black actors. It then plays the voices of the Oscar being given to La La Land when it was actually meant to be awarded to Moonlight. The entire album is incredibly thought provoking and beautifully stylized through the accompanying videos.
I have also been listening to his older music and one song has been stuck in my head, fitting as well due to the recent loss of Chester Bennington, is Numb / Encore - well the whole album is amazing!
Tv-Shows of the week
Downton Abbey
I don't like watching hugely succesful shows when they are on TV as if you miss one episode you risk having a huge plot point spoiled for you (cough* Game of Thrones *cough). So I had never seen an episode of Downton Abbey until two weeks ago. I am already on the last season and it is just one of the best shows ever - another example of "believe the hype". The score is stunning and settling down with a cup of tea hearing that beautiful intro has been my favourite way to spend my time this week. The characters are complex and amazing and if you havn't seen it, I implore you to get Amazon Prime's free trial just to watch it. One of the best things about Amazon Prime TV is that you can download the episodes so you can watch them on your commute.
Film of the week
Bride and Prejudice
One of my favourite memories of my childhood was dancing around the house with my sister singing and dancing to "No Life Without Wife". Bride and Prejudice, the Bollywood-style take on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, is finally on Netflix, so everyone can watch it. This film follows the great love story with visually stunning scenes filled with amazing dance numbers, the vibrant colours of India and some of the most beautiful sarees I've ever seen, as well as starring the stunning Aishwarya Rai.
